Description of this Book

Entirely in Samoanlanguag - this book portrays the author's knowledge and understanding of the Christian theology (faakerisiano) and the Samoan culture (Aganuu Faasamoa). Christian theology as rooted in the Bible, together with the Samoan culture encapsulates Samoan people's beliefs and value systems. Whilst they appear to be complementary, they are however, often viewed and treated as separate parts of the system. What the author sought to achieve therefore, was to enlighten this knowledge gap whereby he drew upon his own knowledge and understanding of this partnership. He made use of traditional and modern Samoan sayings and proverbs to illustrate metaphorically, how he married the Samoan culture with Christian theology. In doing so, the author weds Christian theology and the Samoan culture together in what could be understood as "inculturation". For the lay person, his philosophical approach can be seen as quite radical, for the theological student or scholar Fonoti's approach is very refreshing, educational and culturally appropriate.
