Description of this Book
Collins Big Cat is a guided reading series for ages 4--7 edited by Cliff Moon. Top children's authors and illustrators have created fiction and non-fiction books that your children will love to read, banded to help you choose the right book for every child. Practical teaching notes are included at the back of each book. This is a non-fiction information book about Kim, who tells us about the geographical location of her school. The book shows the exact whereabouts of Kim's classroom within her school, and then expands to locate her school in her city, her country and the world. Illustrations include labelled photographs, simple maps, aerial maps and an image of the Earth. Pages 14 and 15 include an index, and a visual reminder of Kim's location from her classroom - school - city - country - Earth, which can be used to check comprehension and as a model for further independent work. Yellow (Band 3) books offer varied sentence structure and natural language.

Author's Bio
Alison Sage has been a children's editor and writer for over twenty years. She read English at King's College, London, and began her career in children's publishing with Ernest Benn. It was access to their archives, representing seventy years of publishing, that spurred a lifelong passion for children's literature. Adrian Bradbury was born in Manchester and worked as a PE teacher before moving overseas to teach English in Europe, the Middle East and Far East. After returning to England he worked as Deputy Head in three schools and now divides his time between teaching and writing. As well as writing educational materials for HarperCollins and other publishers, he also writes humorous football books for children. His hobbies include playing the piano and all sports.
