James Lawrence has secured world rights to the 1948 recording and Penguin plan a series of four titles. Lawrence has expanded the original cast to include Ember (the station dog), Pumper (a large fire engine), Stretch (the leader of the station) and some minor fire engine characters, Twirl, Zipster and Bernard.

Author's Bio

James Lawrence is from the Wairarapa and worked as an investment banker for many years before setting up a landscape gardening business. He lives in Darling Point, Sydney. Mark Russell is a successful illustrator/animator and also lives in Sydney.
