Description of this Book

Exhibition catalogue -This ongoing series of works is central to my career. I visited a number of Neolithic sites in Britain in 1995 which re enforced my interest in exploring connections between past and present and inceased a sence of identity. As a result I began reading texts on archaeology, in particular by Richard Bradley, Frances Pryor, Chris Tilley and Mike Pitts. The paintings bring together a range of interests and infuences. The mark making approach was infuenced by seeing people doing rubbings at Wells Cathedral - connecting with and revealing the past through a very basic process. The geometric structure, while referencing cosmological theories presented in the reading I was doing, are applied to my own situation - places where I live or which are important to me. The series has a number of sub series exploring various ideas around the passage of time, place and the human place within the continuum.
