Description of this Book
Maori Role Models 2: Nga Tauira Maori 2, subtitled Inspirational Korero from Inspirational Maori, has been compiled by the Te Kiko Charitable Trust. This book is aimed at Maori rangatahi - youth. This is a book that features ten successful Maori from a wide range of backgrounds and careers including a Doctor ( Tony Ruakere), a Church Minister (Temepara o Nga Ratana Ngarangioue Isaacs), an artist (Therea Reihana), an educationalist (Kaa Williams), an ultra distance runner (Lisa Tamati), a squash champion (Shelley Kitchen), an entertainer ( Te Hamua Nikora),a carver (Todd Couper), a Te Reo Maori advocate (Hanah O'Regan) and a Rugby League legend (Rueben Wiki). These are people that rangatahi can look up to and relate with and learn about the secrets of their success. The well produced book, full of photographs, is in a question and answer format with one first half of the book in English and the one half, inverted, a repeat in Te Reo Maori. This is a follow up to the highly successful Maori Role Models published in 2010.
