Description of this Book

Flavia and her friends are on a quest for the Emperor Titus - to steal a valuable gemstone. Their travels take them across the Roman province of Mauretania, from Sabratha (in modern Libya) to Volubilis (Morocco). As they travel on a caravan across the desert they encounter slave-traders, pantomime actors and a wild animal stampede.

Author's Bio

Caroline Lawrence is American. She won a scholarship to Cambridge to read Classical Archaeology, then did a degree in Hebrew and Jewish Studies at University College, London. She lives with her husband, a graphic designer, by the river in London and, in addition to writing her books, is very active as a speaker in schools and at book festivals. Nigel Anthony has worked extensively in the theatre (RSC, Chichester, Scarborough) and on television (Midsomer Murders, Doctors, Coronation Street, Casualty), but it is for his voice work that he is particularly well known. He has won both Sony and Radio Times awards for best actor in Radio Drama, and he is much in demand as a reader of audiobooks. He has been the voice of Tesco, Orange and Hyundai in commercials and is a frequent narrator of documentaries.
