Description of this Book

BAREFOOT IN A PRICKLE PATCH is a sensitive story of the growing bond between two fifteen-year-olds of differing gender and nationality, who find mutual support and encouragement in each other as they work through personal losses. They also share a common interest in distance running - and a common enemy - the notorious school bullies, known as the King Ring, whose growing vendetta against the two intensifies into an out-of-control situation that threatens to end in disaster. Despite the problems of Summer and Fergus, this is not a sad story - it is a tale of tenacity, perseverance and courage - bright with hope, sparkling with humour, and warmed by Summer's unwavering belief in the blue skies of tomorrows. Thought-provoking poems shared by the two main characters, witty quips and personal comments from Summer, add an intriguing 'step-inside' element to the story.
