Author's Bio
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Christopher Cheng is a primary school teacher by profession and spent 8 years as Education Officer at Taronga Zoo, Sydney. Chris has had more than 20 books of fiction and non-fiction published in Australia and overseas. He is also Co-Regional Advisor for SCBWI, (the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators) and in recent years Chris has been seen promoting literacy for the Federal Government's National Literacy and Numeracy initiative (www.literacyandnumeracy.gov.au). He has created book lists, hints for parents and podcasts, and been actively promoting Australia's wonderful children's books. Chris says that he has the best job in the world. ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR Gregory Rogers studied fine art at the Queensland College of Art. Gregory's first major illustration commissions were book covers for young adult novels for University of Queensland Press. He has since illustrated a large number of educational and trade children's picture books. Among these are AUNTIE MARY'S DEAD GOAT by Margaret Card, THE POSTMAN'S RACE by Ian Trevaskis, TRACKS by Gary Crew, LUCY'S BAY by Gary Crew, WAY HOME by Libby Hathorn and RUNNING AWAY FROM HOME by Nigel Gray. In 1995, Gregory won the Kate Greenaway Medal for his illustrations in WAY HOME. He is the first, and to date only, Australian illustrator ever to have won this prestigious British award. WAY HOME also won a Parents' Choice Award in the US and was shortlisted for the ABPA Book Design Awards. Gregory's most recent picture books include BEYOND THE DUSK by Victor Kelleher, and PRINCESS MAX by Laurie Stiller for Random House Australia.
