Description of this Book

In this, the second edition of Iwi Station there are several new features. There is a glossary of terms and a more extensive bibliography. Traditional communication is considered in an extensive discussion of the pa and there is a consideration of letters written by Maori to government in the nineteenth century. The internet is given a separate chapter and there is another new chapter on why and how space has been found to express identity on radio, television and the internet. As in the First Edition, each chapter in Iwi Station has its own character. The chapter on oral communication and history has an academic tone, the chapter on Te Mangai Paho uses the kind of language that people use in government reports and there is a chapter with the kind of speech used by DJs. So be prepared for a bit of a mix!
