Description of this Movie

The republic of Venice employs Othello, a self-made man and a Moor, to defend its overseas territories against the Turks. But for all his military success, Othello remains an outsider in the city, an object of racism, envy and mistrust. As the Turkish threat gathers and Venetian forces are despatched to Cyprus, Iago, a junior officer secretly enraged by his lack of promotion, exploits Othello?s ambiguous position and ingenuous nature, driving him into a passionate and uncontrollable jealousy. Walker, who has previously played Othello in Andrew Davies? 2001 modern television adaptation, appeared as Marc Antony (alongside Denzel Washington?s Brutus) in a 2005 Broadway production of Julius Caesar. Walker is well known in America for his role in the television series Oz. Othello will be directed by Wilson Milam whose West End credits include Killer Joe, Hurlyburly and The Lieutenant of Inishmore, which subsequently transferred to Broadway. Music for Othello is by Stephen Warbeck who wrote the scores for the film
