Born Motueka 1962. Since 1992 Lyttelton poet, Ben Brown, has written many illustrated children's books as well as poetry, general books and an autobiography. Educated at Ngatimoti School, Te Aute College and Canterbury University. Brown worked as (in no particular order): Tobacco farm labourer, forestry worker, fencer, shepherd, land clearance contractor, Railway bridge maintenance and construction worker, tractor driver and forklift operator, barman, art and design tutor, communication tutor, self employed publisher, market gardener.
