Description of this Book

2019 Young NZ Writers' Youth Laureate Award Winner What if the universe is somebody's science experiment? Somebody with a strange sense of humour. And a deadline. Allen's latest school project is a little bit different. After all, it isn't every day you get to build a universe! But as usual, things don't go quite to plan. It may be harder to get that A-minus than he thinks... Sophie is an orphan struggling to survive in the alleyways and back streets of the city. She's totally unimportant in the scale of the universe, or so she thinks, until one day she stows away on a ship and is swept away on an unforgettable adventure. The fate of worlds is in the balance. Well-crafted and engaging... an adventure readers of all ages will enjoy. -Lee Murray

Author's Bio

Emma Uren, winner of the 2019 Young NZ Writers' Youth Laureate Award, has loved creative writing her whole life, starting as a pre-schooler with one of her earliest works being a poem about snails. She began entering writing competitions in Year 10 under the encouragement of her English teacher, and since then has done well in a variety of poetry and prose competitions, most recently 1st equal in the Liam and Frankie Davison Award for Women's Health in 2018. It's a Small World is her first completed longer work, and she would love to write more. Emma also loves dance, languages and music, and studies engineering and psychology in Auckland. She doesn't yet know what the future holds but is sure it will be interesting.
