Author's Bio

Despite his initial calling to be a musketeer, Frederic Maupome studied mathematics (sword fighting degrees were nowhere to be found) and became a teacher. His lessons were full of princesses and superheroes, and not so full of maths, so he decided to quit education to write childrens books. Ironically his very first book, Pirateries, was picked by the French department of education as recommended reading. In 2010 he wrote his first comic book, Anuki. He lives in Toulouse with his wife, their two kids, his piano, and we'll not say how many swords. Little David fell into the world of cartoons before learning to read and begins to draw comics until he finishes secondary school. After studying art history, the speech bubbles ensnare him once again, and he moves to Poland, where the letter V doesn't exist. His professional career begins there, and he learns a new language and gains a funny pseudonym, Dawid. Returning to France he joins different cartoonists workshops in Tours, producing drawings, games, and cartoons for young audiences, schoolbooks, and newspapers. An encounter with two writers from ditions de la Goutti re leads to a series of cartoons with Delphine Cuveele (Passe-passe, Dessus-dessous) and the Supers series (winner of the 2016 ABCD youth prize) with Frederic Maupome.
