Description of this Book

When I first looked back at the Earth, standing on the surface of the Moon, I cried. This book tells the story of the Apollo Missions, when incredible intelligence, engineering and bravery allowed humans to stand on the surface of something other than Earth for the very first time. From the 1969 first moon landing to the amazing rescue of Apollo 13, each mission has its own chapter detailing what happened and what we learnt, with a section at the back featuring biographies of each of the astronauts. Published to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing, this is the perfect title for any child who has ever looked up at the moon and wondered what it might be like to go there.

Author's Bio

David Long writes for adults and children and specialises in history. As a journalist he has written for the Times, Sunday Times, and London Evening Standard as well as for magazines in Britain and abroad. He is an award-winning ghostwriter and one of his own books was voted Blue Peter Book of the Year 2017. Sam Kalda is an illustrator and artist based in Minneapolis. He was born and raised in South Dakota - which sounds much more exotic than it actually is. His commissioned works include editorial, book, advertising and pattern illustration. In 2017, he received a gold medal in book illustration from the Society of Illustrators in New York.
