This work has been in many countries globally - United States, Canada, Australia, Asia, Scotland, Dubai, South Africa and the Czech Republic. It was because of Jill's avid interest in providing practical help for teachers that she has written many teachers' books on the implementation, organization and management of reading and writing programmes and assessment and evaluation. One of these titles 'Linking the Language Strands' has sold over 80 000 copies in English and French. This book was updated and re-titled, 'Lighting the Literacy Fire'. It continues to be a popular title among educators. The home school link is also a passion of Jill's. Assisting parents in giving their children a solid beginning on their literacy journey is important. This has recently resulted in the development of a new series of books and e-books with a digital game app. called Bud-e. Bud-e is a fun way to get preschool children and early readers talking, thinking, reading and writing. In 2010 Jill's work in literacy and education globally, was recognised, and she was awarded a Queen's Service Order from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. In 2011 Jill was a finalist in the Woman of the Year, Education Award, for New Zealand women.
