Ever since 9/11, Muslims and Islam have dominated the headlines in the UK. With one leading newspaper describing the Muslim community as a "troublesome minority", the media has often been accused of hostility. In this illuminating study, several leading commentators examine the p...henomenon of "Islamophobia" and ask how to tackle it. Charting recent media controversies and including interviews from Muslim journalists, this is a captivating insight into how Muslims are depicted in the West. Julian Petley is professor of Film and Television at Brunel University. Robin Richardson is Co-director of the Instead consultancy and author of Islamophobia.

Students at a rural secondary school set up a website in collaboration with students at a multi-ethnic school some 25 miles away. They wanted to explore differences and similarities between their schools and to share reports and reflections about the projects they were doing join...tly. They called the site Here, There and Everywhere, after the Beatles' song. The title also captures the spirit and concerns of this handbook exploring how issues of belonging, identity and equality can be here, there and everywhere in every school. A piece of forum theatre, Sticks, Stones and Macpherson, introduces the book. The overarching themes and big ideas that should permeate every curriculum subject and all aspects of the hidden curriculum in the school are discussed. The discussions and examples are consistent with, but frequently go further than, statutory requirements and expectations. Training exercises and materials for staff discussion provide guidance on dealing with racist incidents and, finally, threads from the book are drawn together to support the creation and development of formal school policies. The book draws extensively on work developed in Derbyshire. It has been compiled and edited for Derbyshire Advisory and Inspection Service by Robin Richardson, a director of the Insted consultancy. He and Insted colleague Angela Wood are the authors of The Achievement of British Pakistani Learners.

In her second collection of poetry, Robin Richardson charts a path through a surreal otherworld that is at once carnal and aerial, fine-grained and crude. Yearning, unapologetic women who delight in the monsters they've created make these poems a shield made of braids, / bassinet... of broadswords, and a ghost-like choir where a love affair / becomes a pulp-book, plotted perfectly to end. Richardon's poetry is both sexy and irreverent. She has a unique and engaging voice that mixes pop culture, archaic mysticism, fun film references and inventiveness with lyric forms. These poems play with reality and fantasy, distorting perception, they are universal and personal at once.

Dr. John Waterloo Senior Pastor of Central Baptist Church Adjunct Professor Heartland Baptist Bible College There are nearly 200 references to ground in the Scriptures. Our Lord used the ground in parables to communicate many truths and principles. God reveals the truth that our thoughts give rise to all subsequent actions and words, like the growing of seeds in soil. Tender Soil shows how God emphasizes the importance of our thoughts. We will study Scripture that clearly reveal God using our thoughts, heart and mind as the soil that produces our words and actions. Our thoughts are tender soil. God's Word shows us how we can work and care for this precious soil, which is fundamental to our living faith. Our thoughts are the soil that produces all words and actions, and within a spiritual context our thoughts can be used interchangeably with our heart and mind.
