A practical computed tomography (CT) primer for junior radiology residents The Body CT: Essentials is an introductory text that focuses on the most clinically relevant concepts and pearls required to generate a concise, accurate differential diagnosis and accurate report. The boo...k includes in-depth discussion on why CT should (or should not) be used in a particular situation relative to other options such as MRI. Other textbooks tend to discuss CT in isolation, as if it were the only option for a clinical situation, which is not often the case. The Body CT: Essentials is enhanced by more than 450 images and includes coverage of the latest technologies such as cardiac CT, CT colonography, and CT enterography. Emphasis is on the appropriateness and role of CT relative to other imaging modalities and protocols Includes a timely chapter on radiation dose considerations

This book contains forty-seven poems by David Lavar Coy, written in his forties, a chaotic period. They reflect actual life and work experiences such as growing up on Polecat Bench in Wyoming, working for the forest service, a friend's suicide and his own divorce. However, the po...et is more interested in transforming his experience through his imagination then rendering a photographic image of it. He is trying to make the reader live the experience through his words. He definitely fictionalizes. Some of the poems come from Arkansas, Missouri, and Arizona as well as Wyoming. There are four groups of poems in the book, and each turns the subject in a new direction. In the first Hair, Bone and Feather, the strongest theme is man's indifferent cruelty to animals, balanced with humor and love. The second group Uncommon Ground is largely about place: staying, leaving, inhabiting. The third group For Love's Sake is of course about love-- not shades of gray, but a spectrum of lyrical feelings. The fourth group, Strays and Castaways is not completely focused on one theme, but contemplates death. The mood was inspired by the suicide of a friend but does not embrace grimness. The poet is an optimist. He embraces life.

She watched a strip of flesh on the table curl up suddenly at the ends as if dropped onto something hot. She looked closely at the severed head and prayed it couldn't be so. Then, she saw the slack lips twitch and the remaining eye in that ruined head, blink slowly. Part 1: THE T...HINGS Run. Hide. Pray. If they find you, pray for death. An unthinkable science--and captives held prisoner by an alien race grown from the morally desolate branches of evolution's tree. Part 2: THE GREEN When the moons come up, get inside. At night on the jungle-wrapped planet called Verde's Revenge, they avoid the dense and beautiful bush and take refuge in something with solid doors and windows that close tight. It's a good rule to follow. If you forget it--hope death comes quickly. Part 3: THE CLEAVING Hazel's venom-induced visions reveal a new danger, ominous and deadly--and stir memories of long-ago events, grotesque and monstrous. ____________________ Author's Note: I finished the first draft of Dominant Species, the original title of the 3-volume story, in 1996 and published it a decade later. I then set it aside, which, in my mind, was just the place for it. Never through with--nor satisfied--with the story, I've continued to write it, on and off, since the first draft. This edition, the parts combined, renamed, retitled, and the story restructured, is now in the form first intended for it. Both the digital and paperback formats of those volumes have been unpublished. The paperback versions have limited availability. New readers, as well as those who have read and enjoyed the story over the years, will find this revised edition, with its present dimensions and shape, an even more exciting and satisfying read.
