'A peculiar genius with no modern equivalent, except possibly Kafka' - Jonathan Miller Regarded as a central part of Kapuscinski's work, these vivid portraits of life in the depths of Poland embody the young writer's mastery of literary reportage When the great Ryszard Kapuscinsk...i was a young journalist in the early 1960s, he was sent to the farthest reaches of his native Poland between foreign assignments. The resulting pieces brought together in this new collection, nearly all of which are translated into English for the first time, reveal a place just as strange as the distant lands he visited. From forgotten villages to collective farms, Kapuscinski explores a Poland that is post-Stalinist but still Communist; a country on the edge of modernity. He encounters those for whom the promises of rising living standards never worked out as planned, those who would have been misfits under any political system, those tied to the land and those dreaming of escape.

At 2047 kilometres long and stretching from the southernmost tip of the South Island to Cape Reinga, State Highway 1 links this country's five main cities, and countless towns and blink-of-an-eye settlements in between. It's also the perfect route from which to explore this count...ry's geographical diversity, traversing expansive plains and a so-called desert, meandering around rugged coastlines, crossing rivers and harbours, and skirting the country's largest lake. In this book, photographer Arno Gasteiger travels from Bluff to the Far North capturing the people, places and landmarks to be discovered along New Zealand's most important highway, while Kennedy Warne reflects on the organic evolution and quirks of this often travelled, but perhaps little known, stretch of road.

Leading New Zealand photographer Rob Suisted delivers a magnificent portrait of New Zealand's national parks. Within these treasured parks is diverse wildlife and stunning scenery representing all kinds of unique landscapes from golden sands to snowy mountains, rainforests and ru...gged coastlines. With five of the parks sitting in World Heritage Areas, this is a celebration of scenic Aotearoa at its best. All fourteen of New Zealand's national parks are represented through Rob's vibrant photographs - from Tongariro, New Zealand's first national park, to Rakiura in the deep south, the country's newest park - he captures the essence of the parks showcasing native birdlife, flora and fauna and the many opportunities for activities such as kayaking, walking and skiing. This vibrant pictorial celebrates the beauty of these areas and Alison Dench emphasises the great pride and spiritual connection New Zealanders hold for their land with an introduction to each park.

A striking photographic companion to the Netflix series from the team that brought us Planet Earth and The Blue Planet, presenting never-before-seen visuals of nature's most intriguing animals in action and the environmental change that has to be seen to be believed. Companion to... the Netflix series, Our Planet takes us on a journey across the globe's different biological realms to reveal the beauty of nature, the surprising secret lives of animals, and the unparalleled destruction of wildlife at the hands of humans. The good news is that, given the chance, forests can and do regrow; rivers will flow anew; grasslands can flourish where today there are deserts; and endangered species can recover. From the team behind the hugely successful nature documentaries The Blue Planet and Planet Earth, Our Planet demonstrates how we can give nature that chance, from penguins battling global warming to sharks benefiting from sanctuary areas and tigers in search of prey. Featuring stunning photographs of some of the world's rarest animals and previously unseen parts of the Earth (including deep oceans, remote forests, and ice caps), this book contains in-depth information organized by environment, behind-the-scenes captions, and bonus content beyond that covered in the eponymous show. With a keepsake package featuring debossing and foil stamping, this groundbreaking coffee-table book reveals the most amazing sights on Earth in unprecedented ways.

Street / Art Photography by Hans Weston. Covering a period of three years 2012-2014. Shot mainly in Wellington, NZ. 'I started working on this project in July 2014 with a pile of around 600 photographs shot between 2012-2014. These would eventually be edited down into this caref...ully sequenced collection of 46. The majority of them happen to be made in Wellington, New Zealand, where I've roamed around places like Te Aro, Cuba street and Newtown. Daylight Hours is not location specific however - I've snuck one in from a trip to Sydney. I photograph whatever grabs my attention, wherever I end up. The images are taken off the cuff and in the moment. I like to capture the way people interact with the environment, how light plays on objects as well as snap the occasional quirky moment. My approach in taking photographs is fairly neutral and I go out with no set theme. I don't inhibit myself. It's only after editing collections together that I begin to flesh out the little narratives going on in my subconscious. It may be said that this collection, along with my second exhibition Daylight Hours is about making an effort to look around and notice the world around us. I really enjoy when people interpret my photographs in their own way. One person sees the world a little differently from the next person, we each bring a unique perspective.' HANS WESTON.
