Just how many secrets can one family keep...? The Southgate sisters are about to find out. BROOKE... has just started seeing someone she's not allowed to - and she's determined to keep it a secret at all costs. Otherwise, it could mean the biggest fall from grace (within the Aust...ralian music industry) for the pair of them. But how do you keep a relationship under wraps when the paparazzi and media are following your every move? MAGGIE... is also trying to keep something hidden - herself! But will escaping to London really keep her safe from all the trouble she left behind? And what surprise is waiting for her over there? Someone from the past that will make her question her future. TESSA... knew having a newborn wasn't going to be all cupcakes and roses, but she wasn't expecting the ride to be so full of thorns either. She's determined to keep up a happy facade though or risk having her precious baby taken away. Brooke, Maggie and Tessa return with more romance, drama and secrets than ever before in this exciting second instalment of the Southgate Sisters trilogy. PLEASE NOTE: although this book is the second in a trilogy, it can easily be read as a stand alone novel as well. (You'll be caught up on everything you need to know within the first few chapters!)

The CIA, beset with draconian budget cuts and increasing problems, decides on an unprecedented strategy. Every week, the agency gets requests from older people, who want to volunteer their services -- often to fill lives made barren by the loss of their partners. In the past, the...se requests have always been ignored and filed. Now, some will be addressed. A class of fifty OLDOGS volunteers is recruited and trained at the agency's secluded site at Camp Peary, VA. From here, they'll be sent to reinvigorate local networks that have been abandoned due to agent and funding shortages. Their training is followed from the first day to a low-key graduation dinner -- including a harrowing escape and evasion exerise. Eight teams leave on their worldwide first assignments. In the meantime, an ambitious Kazakh bureaucrat has orchestrated the theft of nuclear devices from a storage facility in nearby Omsk. He has sold these initiators to an international organization run by a would-be world builder. He has assigned his best agent to smuggle these devices into Chiapas -- a restive part of Mexico. Here one will be used to destroy part of the tourist conclave of Cancun. The other will travel further north, and devastate Miami. Every step of the terribly destructive package -- from its arrival in Cyprus, through its flight to eastern Colombia, and finally its journey by narco-sub to the southern shores of Mexico, is described. OLDOGS Team Two -- a grieving widower and a retired Air Force colonel -- arrive in Mexico in time to discover and prevent disaster in Cancun. Alerted to the identity of the culprits, they follow them to a cruise ship headed for Miami. In a last-minute confrontation, they defeat the agents of destruction -- only hours before the ship was to dock in south Florida. Action and characters at CIA headquarters at Langley provides a good part of the background for what's going on in Cancun and other places. The total result is a believable look at crisis in the current

In this story, the fruits all have names to which we can all identify. Adam, the apple and others are on a tree in various farms when we first meet them. The story follows their journey from the time they are ripe enough to leave the tree and venture into the world, some voluntar...y and others involuntary. The fruits take on human issues, the same issues that people in the different parts of the country encounter on a daily basis. They help each other out when one is being bullied. They praise and encourage others to do better and make themselves better, and they go above and beyond to encourage others that all they have to do is believe in their dreams and it will take them anywhere.

More than a decade after the end of WWII, the joie de vivre of the Cajun-French culture returns to southwest Louisiana. Spirits are buoyed, and for twelve-year-old Walt LaCour, life is idyllic--except for the caustic relationship with his father. A discovery of a paternity scanda...l makes Walt wonder if it's true that a German POW could be his real father. The days before the storm, Walt and his family try to protect his friend's Stradivarius violin from being stolen until Hurricane Audrey hits taking with her nearly 500 lives and every shred of normalcy Walt had ever called his own. In this fictionalized memoir, an aged Walt LaCour begins with his childhood desperation to find his roots, firmly believing that knowing his history will bring him a separate kind of peace. As Hurricane Audrey pummels his home town, he braves 20-foot tidal waves and eventually comes face-to-face with his own mortality. Later, as a college student, a mysterious classmate taunts him with knowledge of secrets Walt has never told another living soul, and Walt begins to suspect that there was more to his experience in the hurricane than he ever realized.

Among the reasons for the instant appeal and durability of folk songs, spirituals and blues are their melodic, harmonic and rhythmic simplicity and accessibility. They are passed down by oral tradition from generation to generation, often undergoing changes in the process. The pr...ovenance of such songs is often not known. However, some such songs of similar character may sometimes be attributed to specific known composers. (Examples of the latter include such well known gems as Woody Guthrie's This Land Is Your Land, Bob Dylan's Blowin' in the Wind, and Pete Seeger's If I Had a Hammer, among several others.) Each folk song and spiritual in this collection is imbued with a cultural heritage that reflects its roots. At the same time, one cannot fail to notice various musical fingerprints added by later musicians over the years. Having deep feelings in my heart for this material and having been inspired by my own background in jazz, jazz improvisation and jazz education, I herewith offer my own 21st century piano solo arrangements of these folk and spiritual classics, plus two original blues pieces, all written at the intermediate level with a tasteful touch of jazz. Additionally, a template is provided for students to create their own blues compositions, as well as suggested guidelines for blues improvisation. I am the author of over 100 published solo piano books in the United States, 38 in Japan, and 2 in the former Soviet Union. Of all of them, I am especially proud of my early and intermediate level books such as Razzle Dazzle, Color Me Jazz books 1 and 2, Ole! and Fiesta! (both books consisting of original Latin American songs), Crash Course in Chords (a foundation theory/performance workbook), and my early-advanced level Jazz Piano Scales and Exercises.
