He was a Venezuelan general, regarded as a forerunner for the South American emancipation of the Spanish Empire. He was the creator of the idea of Colombia as a nation. He participated in three wars for democracy: Independence of the United States, the French Revolution, in which... he was a prominent player, and for that was awarded the title Hero of the Revolution. His ideas influenced prominent separatist leaders as Simon Bolvar and Bernardo O'Higgins. His name is engraved on the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
