This book was written to support health and safety practitioners and professionals through that implementation and transition. The second edition of Health and Safety at Work in New Zealand: Know the Law builds on the well-respected foundations of the first edition, analyzing case law under the new regime and developments in health and safety culture. it includes a new chapter on bullying, harassment and mental health in the workplace and the role of Worksafe. The 14 chapters and comprehensive subject index cover all the essential elements of the legislation and regulations, the legal framework and policy background, while also discussing relevant cases from New Zealand and Australia. Chapters discuss key terms, offences, enforcement, sentencing, regulations and codes of practice. There is guidance on industry specific topics that many readers will find useful including asbestos, earthquake issues, oil and gas, farming, adventure tourism and construction. The book also includes diagrams to help explain key concepts. Swifty the Arctic fox works in the mail room of the Arctic Blast Delivery Service but dreams of one day becoming a Top Dog (the Arctic's star husky couriers). To prove himself worthy of the Top Dog role, Swifty secretly commandeers one of the sleds and delivers a package to a mys...terious location. He stumbles upon a secret fortress where he comes face to face with Otto Von Walrus, a blubbery evil genius who walks around on mechanical legs and commands a loyal army of oddly polite puffin henchmen. Swifty soon discovers Von Walrus' plan to melt the polar ice caps and flood the world in order to reign supreme. Now, Swifty has to enlist the help of his friends: PB, a concerned polar bear, Lemmy, a scatterbrained albatross, Bertha and Leopold, two conspiracy theorist otters and Jade, a worldly fox. This ragtag group of Arctic misfits has to band together to stop Von Walrus' sinister plans and save the day.

Who could imagine that finding a suitable pair of football boots would prove almost impossible for women and girls in the 1970s? The focus of the women's liberation movement was fought in the streets, in universities, in workplaces and in the home. We add the football field to th...ese sites of protest and empowerment for individual women. We follow the Australian and New Zealand national players - schoolgirls, factory workers, university graduates and professionals - as they navigate the male-dominated world of football. This book never shies away from the uncomfortable aspects of their journeys, uncovering stories of vulnerability and strength, sexual harassment as well as sexual awakening, personal vilification as well as celebration, giving voice to a silencing in sport. Written by historian Dr Marion Stell, in collaboration with football identity Heather Reid AM, this enlivened account is told with honesty, pain and humour.

The Government's occupation of Parihaka on 5 th November, 1881, was an inevitable consequence of Te Whiti creating aquasi-republic which refused to recognise the sovereignty of the Crown, or the laws of the land. That the occupation was achieved peacefully was as much a tribute t...o the restraint of Te Whiti and Tohu, as to the decision of the Government to arrive with overwhelming force so as to deter any ideas of resistance. This book explains the complicated land situation in Taranaki which led to war and confiscation, and narrates the rise of Te Whiti and Parihaka - the tensions between him and the settlers, and the Government's failed efforts to resolve the situation. It also covers the later years of the prophets Te Whiti and Tohu and the dispute which marred their lives, culminating in the decline of Te Whiti's influence as his prophecies failed to materialise. Ultimately this influence was replaced by the Young Maori Party of Apirana Ngata who worked for assimilation with European ways.
